Are We Prepared to meet the Bridegroom?

I have been thinking about the parable of the Ten Virgins. I love this parable. Emily Freeman wrote a book about these ten women and it is really good and makes each of us truly think about ourselves and how prepared we are to meet the bridegroom (the Savior) when he comes. I have the music that goes with the book and I love listening to it also. There is alot of meaning in each and everyone and I find a bit of myself in each of these women. I want to share the words to two of the songs. They have great meaning for me.

The first song is: "The Shopkeeper on the Hill"

Everyone knows his face, The shopkeeper on the hill. All through the night the light in His window burns As He works the clay And everyone waits to see, The lamp He's designed for her Carefully crafted, perfectly planned to be Just as unique as she. A sculpture of her soul, A vessel carved to hold. The precious oil she needs, He seems to look inside each heart, And shape a work of art. That only He can fill, The shopkeeper on the hill. She knows where she will find, The Shopkeeper on the hill. Rugged and steep, each step of it worth the climb, Whenever she takes the time. He reminds her to return, So her lamp will always burn. With the oil he freely gives, It holds the light to guide her path, He hopes she'll bring the lamp. That only he can fill. His door is open still. The Shopkeeper on the hill.

The second song is called: "When He Comes"

We are all invited to the feast; Each of us is welcome - from the greatest to the least. We hold the invitation in our hands, It's written in each crevice of our own lamp. I promise I'll prepare to be there on that day, Dancing in the glory as we celebrate. Like a lamp the master planned each of us, With his grand design. The oil is the light I will burn through the night, As I wait for Him to come again. There will always be enough, If I run to him to fill it up. Drop by drop by drop, Til I know him perfectly, When he comes for me. Humble hearts are waiting for the day. Faithfully preparing for the chance to light his way. Guardians of the vessels that will burn, Watching for the Master to return. Maker of the gift that only he can fill, Keeper of the precious oil is waiting still. And I will kiss the hands That made my lamp When he comes again I will honor him.

195 Dresses

I think this video is a very good one. I think some of our wards and stakes should follow the example of this young woman and her ward. Young women need better choices out there. Modesty is always in fashion.

I love it when we are able to crack ourselves up. Could our "wits" have anything to do with this ability? And how do we get our "wits" to be of use when we can finally get them about us? I love these little "wits" running around her feet in this cute picture by Mary Englebreit. There are many days when we all need to have our "wits about us"! As an example, when my kids come home to visit or when Lyndon, Spencer or Dallen are leaving for the day, I always say, "Drive carefully and be alert". We need our "wits" about us when driving in Salt Lake traffic. Really the world needs more "Lerts with their "wits" about them. Have a great day everyone and keep those "wits" about you at all times! Hee! Hee! Seriously!

We Thank Thee Oh God For A Prophet!

I so enjoyed General Conference! Many of the talks touched me and made me want to do and be better than I am. I love President Monson. He is a Prophet of God and I am thankful for him and his wise counsel and example to us all. I love many of his quotes and want to share just a few of them here: * "Occasionally discouragement may darken our pathway; frustration may be a constant companion. In our ears there may sound the sophistry of Satan as he whispers, "You cannot save the world; your small efforts are meaningless. You haven't time to be concerned about others." Trusting in the Lord, let us turn our heads from such falsehoods and make certain our feet are firmly planted in the path of service and our hearts and souls dedicated to follow the example of the Lord. In moments when the light of resolution dims and when the heart grows faint, we can take comfort from his promise; "Be not weary in well doing...out of small things proceedeth that which is great. "Behold the Lord requireth the heart and a willing mind." * "It has been said that the gate of history turns on small hinges, and so do people's lives. The choices we make determine our destiny." * "Of course we will face fear, experience ridicule and meet opposition. Let us have the courage to defy the consensus, the courage to stand for principle. Courage, not compromise brings the smile of God's approval. Courage becomes a living and a attractive virtue when it is not regarded only as a willingness to die manfully, but also as a determination to live decently. A moral coward is one who is afraid to do what he thinks is right because others will disapprove or laugh. Remember that all men have their fears, but those who face their fears have diginity as well." * "With all my heart and the fervency of my soul, I lift up my voice in testimony as a special witness and declare that God does live. Jesus is his son, the only begotten of the father in the flesh. He is our Redeemer; He is our mediator with the Father. He it was who died on the cross to atone for our sins. He became the firstfruits of the Resurrection. Because he died, all shall live again. "Oh, sweet the joy this sentence gives; I know that my Redeemer lives! May the whole world know it and live by that knowledge." I love these quotes given by a Prophet of God. I, too, know and testify that he lives and loves us and wants us to be happy and live with him again. I am grateful for all my many blessings for I know that all I have and enjoy in this life comes from a loving Heavenly Father. Thank you President Monson for your great example and love.

Relief Society: Something Extraordinary

I love this video. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love being a member of the Relief Society. It is a blessing in my life and I am so thankful for the great women in my life who have been great examples to me. My mother is my number one hero. She has been an example to me all my life. She and my father taught me the gospel and took me to church. She helped my to love relief society and all that it offers us as sisters.
I love you mom! You are special and I am so thankful and grateful for you! I have other women in my life also that have been great examples to me. These women are friends in my ward, young and old who have taught me much by their examples and service. My two sisters are also two lovely women that I look up to and love so very much.

I truly love visiting teaching. It is such a blessing in my life too! I have a wonderful companion and she has been a great example to me all while I have lived in this ward and now we get to be V.T. companions. I am still learning from this great lady. The sisters we visit are also special and I love them and the things that I learn from them.

I love this quote from Pres. Joseph F. Smith, "Relief Society has not only to deal with the necessities of the poor, the sick and the needy, but a part of it's duty and, the larger part, too, is to look after the spiritual welfare and salvation of the mothers and daughters fo Zion; to see that none is neglected, but that all are guarded against misfortune, calamity, the powers of darkness, and the evils that threaten them in the world."

Elder Ballard also said, "Every sister in this Church who has made covenants with the Lord has a divine mandate to help save souls, to lead the women of the world, to strengthen the homes of Zion, and to build the kingdom of God."

I hope that I can fully fulfill my duties as a wife, mother, sister, teacher, friend and especially a daughter of God and keep the covenants that I have made. Thanks to a loving Heavenly Father who has blessed the women of the church with the opportunity to serve and up-lift others. May we all work towards this end. Be the best you can be!
